Audience enter a room and are submerged by underwater footage. Ghostly images of Chinook Salmon circle, projected on the gallery walls and ceiling. The air is pungent with the smell of cedar bows. Food pellets crush beneath their feet as they walk toward cedar stump chairs. Underwater sounds reverberate and mingle with audio fragments of a fish farmer’s voice.

Artist Statement
“We become what we eat, as does every living organism. This piece explores the obvious way we connect with salmon, and our history with the fish. Being amongst a swirling mass of salmon is frightening, beautiful, and sublime.”
Charisse Baker
Artist Statement
“This installation is about proposing, not imposing; a dialogue around fish farming practices. My intent is for the viewer to examine their relationship with salmon.“ |
